Get To Know Carolina Dance Company
Carolina Dance Company opened in downtown Roseboro, North Carolina in the summer of 2009. A second location began offering dance classes in Clinton, North Carolina in 2017. Since opening its doors, Carolina Dance Company has offered quality, caring dance education under the direction of highly qualified and trained instructors that are hand-picked by studio owner, Courtney English. At CDC, dancers receive personal dance instruction in a positive class setting. Our studio motivates every dancer to reach their highest potential whether they take one class per week or ten. Carolina Dance Company takes pride in offering dancers a fun and safe learning environment that will allow them to leave each class feeling confident and accomplished.
Typically, a dance year at Carolina Dance Company begins in September and ends with the spring recital in April. Dancers enrolled at our studio will focus primarily on technique in the fall and transition to a focus on choreography in the spring. Each dancer is encouraged to participate in our holiday showcase in December, and the annual spring recital in April.
In addition to the annual fall & spring performances, Carolina Dance Company also participates in the annual Roseboro Christmas Parade and the Clinton Christmas Parade. Held on the second Friday night and the second Saturday morning of each December, both parades are highly anticipated each year by our studio, our dancers and our dance parents. As our youngest dancers help spread the holiday cheer from our beautiful Carolina Dance Company float, older students bring in the spirit as they dance through the streets of downtown Roseboro and Clinton entertaining spectators from all over Eastern North Carolina.
Summer dance programs are also available at each Carolina Dance Company location. Summer camps, workshops and master classes offer dancers the opportunity to further their dance education while school is out in June and July. Program information on summer opportunities is available in April of each year.
Students who wish to dance competitively and showcase a dedication to dance can be invited to become a member of our Premier Dance Teams: Shooting Stars, Emerging, Extreme, Evolving, & Elite Dance Companies. Company dancers compete in 2-3 local dance competitions each year, as well as perform at various events local to our Roseboro & Clinton community throughout the year. Competitive dancers also have the opportunity to travel with Carolina Dance Company & learn from master teachers. Most recently, CDC visited Orlando, Florida to take classes & perform at Walt Disney World (2024, 2019 & 2015) and New York City to participate in Master Ballet & Master Jazz classes with professional dancers (2017). Additionally, our dancers have been featured in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade (2023).
